About Our Knives

We believe that fine knives should be a reflection of who you are, and are something special to be cherished and passed down from one generation to the next. We also believe they should be built to be used day in and day out in tough hunting conditions, regardless of how nice they may look. M.G. Muhlhauser & Sohne knives are built to these standards. Our knives have a reputation of being "over built" - and that's just fine by us.

Our knives were originally designed with the African Professional Hunter in mind. PH's, as they are known, live and breathe hunting day in and day out. They hunt the toughest animals on earth in exceptionally remote locations. They like equipment that is functional, and often times beautiful. Like a fine bespoke double rifle from an English maker, or a Muhlhauser knife. Pursuing tough animals in rugged lands where the nearest store is an airplane ride away is no place for a wimpy knife. So yes, we have a tendency to overbuild.

Our knives are put to use by hunters, sportsmen, and knife aficionado all over the world. Whether you are hunting whitetails in your back forty, elk and mulies out west, moose in Alaska, Cape Buffalo in the Caprivi strip of Namibia, wild boar in Europe, or red stag in New Zealand – your Muhlhauser knife will be an equally good companion ready to serve wherever you take it next.

Knife Models

We currently make a variety of fixed blade knive models. All are made my hand by us right here in our Tolland, Connecticut location. Please take a look at our knife gallery for examples of the various models.

Our knives have traditionally been named after animals. Given the lineage of our knives, the originals were all named after African game.

The knife you choose should reflect your desires and we therefore offer many options. We offer different steels, as well as a variety of different handle materials. We can also make the knife unique with various types of hand crafted file work. If you would like your name or initials on the blade, we can certainly do that as well. The knife bolsters and pommels can be hand engraved with elegant scroll work, or perhaps something more unique like your favorite game animals.
